ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Teaches district-approved curriculum; prepares lesson plans accordingly. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and work ethic when working on special projects. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and__ in harmony with the goals__establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students. Ensures accuracy and best practices for compliance with organizational standards. Keeps records and prepares progress reports electronically. . Possess proficient computer skills. Keeps current in discipline and teaching techniques. Participates in professional development and remains current in the field. Any other relative teaching duties as assigned.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught. Three (3) years of full-time employment directly related to Landscape Construction and joining technologies.CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
Ch. 74 licensure in the Landscape Construction and joining technologies is required, or the ability to acquire a Chapter 74 license. Must possess a current MA pesticide applicator license.ABILITY, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
A Master's degree may substitute for one of the three years of required employment experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter related to the Technical Knowledge and Skills strand (Strand 2) of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in Horticulture, and/or in vocational education.
