Job Description

Square Roots Farm is looking for a livestock and poultry processing team member starting immediately to work caring for our animals in pasture-based systems and assisting in our Massachusetts state inspected poultry processing facility. Hours are somewhat flexible, and hourly pay starts at $15/hr. Currently looking for someone Tuesday-Friday, 8-12, some half days and some full days Now in the midst of our 16th year of operation, we are a diversified farm that raises eggs, chicken, turkey, pork, and beef primarily for farmers' markets and wholesale. Our farm focuses on pasture-based and regenerative practices, and we strive to market our products to our neighbors of all backgrounds and income levels. In 2026, we will manage ~1500 laying hens and 45 head of beef and raise 6,000 broilers (meat chickens), 400 turkeys and 40 pigs. As a livestock and poultry processing team member, you will contribute to our goals of farming sustainability, promoting food access for all, and growing high quality food while also learning about what it takes to run your own small scale, profitable pasture-based farm - or to help us grow our farm in the years to come. The ideal candidate will commit to a regular weekly schedule, be reliable, eager to learn and attentive to detail. Dates:
Year-round or seasonal, starting immediately Part-time (lots of potential for growth, including potential full time, for right person)
Responsibilities:
Conduct all daily chores - feeding, watering, collecting eggs, moving meat chickens, driving UTV Assist with livestock moves (twice-weekly for layers, daily for broilers and cows, weekly for pigs) or do them independently after some instruction Maintain, troubleshoot and repair fence and water systems Distribute feed Load chickens Process chickens
Qualifications:
Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly Willingness to work cheerfully in all weather Interested in learning about livestock and livestock systems Valid driver's license
Compensation:
