Job Description
Good Earth Gardeners is a renowned garden design, installation and maintenance company that is based in Anne Arundel County and the Eastern Shore regions of Maryland. We are currently seeking an experienced Horticulturist and Garden Supervisor who is passionate about horticulture, the outdoors, and growing with a small business. As a Horticulturist, you will be responsible for planting, maintaining, and supervising unique gardens loaded with history and diversity. From detailed containers to multi-acre estates, every day at Good Earth is an opportunity unlike any other. Our current team of Garden Supervisors work with subcontractors to oversee quality, sustainability, and aesthetics in our clients gardens. The ability to communicate effectively and confidently perform advanced horticultural practices is essential. Candidates with little to no horticultural experience are not recommended to apply. Our ideal candidate has passion for gardening, a rich background in conventional gardening and horticulture, and the ability to perform hard labor on a daily basis . Tenured Horticulturists at Good Earth benefit from perks like continuing education opportunities, specialized certifications, access to conventions & trade shows, and connections with renowned nurseries and contractors across the state. •All applicants must attach a one page cover letter along with their application that outlines their experience with horticulture and conventional gardening.•Responsibilities Manage & maintain established trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals in residential gardens Perform pruning techniques such as thinning, shaping, and hedging Ensure health and growth of plants Perform laborious tasks such as planting, mulching, edging, and sod removal Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and fellow garden supervisors Confidently lead a landscaping crew without supervision, sometimes dealing with language barriers (Spanish) Qualifications Prior professional gardening and horticulture experience is required - at least 3 years Professionalism and the ability to work closely with others Current MD driver's license and reputable driving record Reliable transportation to and from work Excellent attention to detail Ability to confidently identify most landscape plants Ability to work in all weather conditions including wind, light rain, heat, and cold Good time management skills and the ability to multi-task Bend, kneel & lift at least 50lbs Ability to work a laborious job every day Punctual & dependable Benefits Paid holidays Paid time off Bonus incentives Educational opportunities Advancement opportunities Employee discounts Personal tools & apparel
