Job Description

Position Summary The Farm Technician supports the daily operations of the Living and Learning Farm through crop production, animal care, grounds maintenance, facility upkeep, and community engagement activities. This hands-on position requires a strong work ethic, the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and a passion for agriculture and animal care. Key Responsibilities Crop & Garden Care Plant, water, weed, fertilize, and harvest crops, flowers, and produce. Monitor crop health and assist with greenhouse operations. Support sustainable farming practices including composting and soil management. Animal Care & Beekeeping Feed, water, and care for farm animals. Clean and maintain barns, stalls, and enclosures. Monitor animal health and assist with medications when authorized. Maintain beehives and support honey production and harvesting. Grounds & Facility Maintenance Mow, trim, weed, and maintain farm grounds. Perform routine building maintenance and safety inspections. Assist with seasonal duties including snow removal and property upkeep. Support event setup, takedown, and material movement. Team & Community Support Assist with farm tours, educational programs, and community events. Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, contractors, and program participants. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license required. Basic knowledge of farming, gardening, animal care, or grounds maintenance. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Experience Horticulture Livestock or pet care Vegetable or flower gardening Facility maintenance Grounds and landscape maintenance Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday. Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
