Details:
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor.
Rogueing:
the worker will walk down the aisles between the plants in the corn fields, removing the corn plants that are from a different species leaving the field ready for detasseling.
Corn detasseling:
the worker will walk down the aisles between the plants in the corn fields, removing the spikes that are left after the detasseling machine passes through. Workers will remove the spikes and drop them on the ground.
Bagging:
Workers will process, bag, rebag, and repack recently harvested seed corn. Workers will work in a produce storage facility adjacent to farmland leased and controlled by fixed-site grower, Remington Seeds. At least 51% of product handled by workers will be grown/produced directly by Remington Seeds. When needed, workers may be asked to operate a forklift to move the seedcorn bags or agricultural products within the produce storage facility. Seed Corn Corn Harvest Worker - sort harvested corn from shaking machine and rotary belt and throw away bad corn. Work performed on land owned by grower/operator (Remington Seeds) and corn raised by same. Ensure 100% quality to best of ability. Supervisors will provide daily instructions, general supervision, and demonstrations of proper techniques as needed. Workers must comprehend and follow directions, communicate effectively with supervisors, and are expected to develop the skills necessary to perform assigned tasks promptly and proficiently with minimal supervision. Care for and monitor machine speed. Must be able to identify male/ female corn plants. Job requires multi-limb coordination, dexterous hands, arm-hand.
Hand weeding:
Workers will walk through the corn fields pooling the weeds around the corn plants. Workers who possess a valid driver's license and meet all applicable legal requirements, including holding a doctor's certificate as required by 29 CFR 500.105, may be asked to drive vehicles for transporting workers, or equipment, on company business. This task is voluntary, compensable, and not a mandatory job duty. Workers without a valid driver's license or doctor's certificate will still be fully eligible for employment and are not disqualified from any other job responsibilities outlined in this application. The employer can and will make alternative arrangements for the transportation of workers should the need arise.
Housing Rules and Expectations:
Keep the living space clean at all times. Sweep all floors daily. Absolutely no damage to the housing property. No loud music or parties are allowed after dark. Do not tamper with, remove, or cover smoke detectors. Batteries must remain in the detectors at all times. Do not remove heaters or fire extinguishers from the unit. Extension cords are not permitted. Do not remove or damage window or door screens. •
