Workers will irrigate fields using portable pipes, ditches, pumps, and pivot irrigation systems and will install, maintain, and repair irrigation equipment as needed. Additional duties include loading and unloading crops and materials manually or by using conveyors, forklifts, transfer augers, hand trucks, suction gates, shovels, and pitchforks; loading hoppers, containers, and conveyors to feed machines; guiding products on conveyors and removing diseased or rotten products; manipulating controls to activate and adjust equipment; and observing machinery during operation to detect malfunctions. Employees will drive farm semi-trucks and other farm vehicles to transport crops, supplies, and equipment to fields, storage facilities, and delivery locations. Workers will inspect, adjust, diagnose, repair, and maintain farm machinery, vehicles, implements, buildings, fences, and other structures. Duties include disassembling and cleaning defective equipment, lubricating and reassembling machinery, performing routine repairs and maintenance, recording agricultural data as required, and cleaning work areas, equipment, and farm facilities.
