Seasonal Laborer - Wurdack Farm Extension and Education Center University of Missouri-Columbia 403(b) United States, Missouri, Kansas City Jul 02, 2026 Hiring Department Wurdack Extension and Education Center Job Description The Wurdack Extension and Education Center seeks a Seasonal Laborer to perform routine agricultural work in support of university research activities and agricultural programs. This position involves general farming tasks, hay production activities, safe operation of agricultural machinery, and basic maintenance of farm equipment to support daily operations. The center located along the Meramec River near Cook Station, MO in the northeast Ozarks.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate farming machinery and equipment such as tractors, balers, mowers, rakes, harvesters, and related implements Assist with haymaking operations, including mowing, raking, baling, transporting, storing, and handling hay and forage crops Monitor hay fields and support harvest activities to help ensure timely and efficient forage production Perform routine inspections and minor maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation Identify and report mechanical issues requiring repair or advanced maintenance Follow all safety procedures and operational guidelines Assist with general farm tasks as needed to support operations Job responsibilities listed herein are a general description of typical job duties, responsibilities, qualifications, and physical demands of the incumbents but should not be considered all-encompassing, as actual responsibilities may additionally include other duties as assigned. Shift Average 25 hrs per week. Monday-Friday 8 am - 5 pm. Days and hours will vary depending on weather and workload. Minimum Qualifications Basic knowledge of farm machinery and agricultural operations, with the ability to perform minor equipment maintenance and troubleshooting Mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detail Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions Ability to read, write, and perform simple arithmetic computations A commercial driver's license may be required for some positions. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects and equipment weighing up to 25-50 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, and operate machinery for extended periods Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in farming or equipment operation preferred Commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred. Anticipated Hiring Range The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $25.00 - $30.00 hourly. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
