Position Function:

This position provides support to the agronomic research program operations including data collection, field management, and assisting in farm production operations and facilities maintenance. Employees hired into Intermittent positions are limited to working no more than 720 hours per fiscal year.

Anticipated Appointment Date:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assists the agronomic faculty and farm staff with demonstrations and/or projects. 2. Assists with plot/bed preparation, planting, cultivating, fertilizing, applying herbicide, and harvesting of crops. 3. Operating, maintaining, and calibrating various field and laboratory equipment used in field operations and analysis of research samples. 4. Assists with cleaning and servicing vehicles and equipment. 5. Assists with building, demonstration area and facilities appearance upkeep. 6. Mows grass, weeds, and cleans as directed. 7. Performs related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

High school education or GED.

Licensure:

Must have a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Farm-related work experience beyond the minimum required. 2. Previous experience with data entry skills. 3. Previous experience understanding and following specific instructions and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Mechanical and technical skills related to essential duties and responsibilities. Working Conditions and Physical Effort 1. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions. 2. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. 3. Will operate and work in close proximity with heavy farm equipment. 4.
