Job Description

Big Jim Farms is seeking a dependable, motivated individual to join our team with the opportunity to advance into a management position. We are hiring both full-time and part-time employees, but we are specifically looking for individuals who are interested in growing with our organization long-term. Big Jim Farms is a diversified agricultural operation and one of New Mexico's leading agritourism farms. In addition to growing crops and raising livestock, we welcome thousands of visitors each year through our U-Pick experiences, educational field trips, workshops, summer camps, farm dinners, farmers markets, and community events. Agritourism plays a critical role in sustaining modern agriculture by connecting the public with local food production, supporting family farms, and educating future generations about agriculture. This position combines traditional agricultural work with public engagement, leadership, education, and operations management. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to gain experience in crop production, livestock management, facility maintenance, event operations, customer service, employee supervision, and agricultural education. Position Responsibilities Responsibilities vary throughout the season and may include: Crop planting, irrigation, harvesting, and field maintenance Livestock care and daily animal management Building, repairing, and maintaining fences, irrigation systems, equipment, buildings, and farm infrastructure Operating tractors, utility vehicles, and farm equipment Assisting with farmers markets and farm stand operations Greeting visitors and providing exceptional customer service Leading educational workshops, farm tours, school field trips, and summer camps Supervising seasonal employees and volunteers Assisting with special events and agritourism programming Supporting daily farm operations and completing special projects as needed Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who: Is dependable, punctual, and takes ownership of their work Enjoys working with people and communicates professionally Has strong leadership potential and is comfortable leading employees, volunteers, and public programs Is confident speaking to groups of both children and adults Has experience building, repairing, or maintaining equipment and facilities Is organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently Works well under changing priorities and in a team environment Takes pride in delivering high-quality work and excellent customer service Agricultural experience is preferred not required.
