We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Herdsperson to join our dairy operation. This role is ideal for a professional looking to continue a long-term career in a progressive, high-capacity farm environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer breeding program, including heat detection, artificial insemination, and record keeping Coordinate daily cattle movements across the farm and satellite locations. Maintain accurate health and treatment records using DC 305 Administer vaccinations and support herd health protocols under veterinary guidance Monitor animal health and promptly identify signs of illness or distress both visually and through use of animal health monitoring systems (SCR) Assist with daily care and management of a 7,000-head dairy herd. Support all herd operations, working collaboratively with other herdspeople and teams. . Maintain cleanliness and organization of barns and work areas Operate farm equipment as needed (training provided if necessary) Work closely with herd managers and veterinarian to ensure optimal herd performance
Qualifications:
Prior training or education in animal science, veterinary science, dairy science, or a related field preferred Robust working knowledge of animal health, vaccinations, and breeding. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Good observational and problem-solving skills Team-oriented with strong communication abilities
Preferred Experience:
Extensive hands-on experience with dairy cattle, preference given to prior herd management experience Familiarity with herd management software and record-keeping systems, especially Dairy Comp and SCR Artificial Insemination Spanish competency
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
