Compost Equipment Operator

Job Summary Do you enjoy operating heavy equipment? Do you have experience working on a farm or around agricultural machinery? Are you looking for a hands-on role where you can learn, grow, and work as part of a hardworking team? We are seeking a Compost Equipment Operator to join our Compost department. This entry-level role is responsible for assisting with the safe and efficient operation, cleaning, and basic maintenance of composting equipment. The primary goal of this position is to help process manure into compost while learning the equipment, facilities, and daily operations of the compost and fertilizer areas. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys physical, hands-on work, is comfortable around machinery, and has a strong interest in equipment operation. Key Responsibilities Operate and clean composting equipment under direct supervision Assist with safely and efficiently processing manure into compost Learn the operation of equipment such as skid steers, payloaders, and dump trucks Support the Compost team with daily department tasks Assist with cleaning equipment and performing basic preventative maintenance Help keep equipment in good working condition Work with senior Compost team members to learn basic troubleshooting and repair procedures Follow all safety procedures and company policies Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Requirements High school diploma or GED required Valid driver's license required Strong aptitude for operating equipment, including payloaders, skid steers, and dump trucks Excellent organizational skills High degree of initiative and willingness to learn Ability to work independently once proficient in job duties Farm, agricultural, equipment, or machinery experience preferred Physical Demands and Work Environment This is a mobile, hands-on position requiring moderate to high energy levels and occasional physical exertion. The role includes exposure to agricultural environments, including heat, cold, temperature changes, noise, dust, odors, and other conditions commonly found in agricultural facilities.

Physical requirements include:

Constant standing and walking Frequent carrying, pushing, pulling, and lifting Regular talking and hearing Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds
