Job Description

Position Summary The Pest Control Foreman is responsible for overseeing all pest management operations within the propagation department, including monitoring plant health, identifying pest and disease issues, and applying appropriate treatments. Foreman will lead a crew of three Weeders and one Spray technician. This role ensures the propagation department maintains healthy, market-ready plant material while following all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Coordinate daily pest control activities throughout the propagation department. Monitor crops, trees, shrubs, and greenhouse plants for insects, weeds, fungi, and disease issues. Identify pest infestations and determine appropriate treatment plans. Apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and biological controls according to label instructions and company protocols. Maintain accurate records of chemical applications, pest activity, and treatment results. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and state agricultural regulations. Maintain pesticide inventory, application equipment, and safety supplies. Collaborate with nursery production managers to support plant health and crop quality goals. Inspect irrigation, drainage, and environmental conditions that may contribute to pest or disease problems. Respond quickly to urgent outbreaks to prevent crop loss. Other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; horticulture, agriculture, or plant science education preferred. Previous supervisory or crew leadership experience preferred. Valid pesticide applicator license/certification required (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe). Strong knowledge of plant pests, diseases, weeds, and treatment methods. Ability to safely operate sprayers, tractors, ATVs, and other nursery equipment. Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds. Preferred Skills Knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) practices. Familiarity with ornamental plants, trees, shrubs, and greenhouse production. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are a plus. Ability to train and motivate field crews. Working Conditions Outdoor and greenhouse work environment. Exposure to heat, humidity, chemicals, dust, and uneven terrain. Early morning, weekend, or seasonal overtime may be required during peak production periods.
