Job Description
Position Title Stable Hand / Barn Worker Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Stable Hand to assist with the daily care of horses and general barn operations. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized stable environment while ensuring horses receive proper feeding, watering, turnout, and daily care. The ideal candidate is comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and operating farm equipment safely. Key Responsibilities Feed and water horses according to established schedules and instructions Clean horse stalls, remove manure, and replace bedding daily Turn horses in and out of pastures or paddocks safely Monitor horses for signs of illness, injury, or unusual behavior and report concerns promptly Maintain cleanliness and organization of barns, tack rooms, feed rooms, and work areas Operate farm equipment such as tractors, utility vehicles, manure spreaders, and other machinery safely and responsibly Haul hay, bedding, feed, and supplies as needed Assist with general farm and facility maintenance tasks Follow all barn safety procedures and animal handling protocols Support trainers, barn managers, or owners with additional daily stable operations as needed Qualifications Previous horse handling or stable experience Ability to safely handle horses of varying temperaments and sizes Experience operating farm equipment preferred Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, bending, walking, and working outdoors in all weather conditions Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently Strong attention to detail and commitment to animal care and safety Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform manual labor for extended periods Comfortable working around horses, dust, hay, mud, and farm equipment Schedule Part time (morning shift starts at 8 am) Weekends and holidays may be required Compensation Competitive pay based on experience Possible housing or boarding benefits available, if applicable
