Job Description
Job Overview Join our dynamic agricultural team as a Seasonal Farm Worker, where your energy and dedication will include greenhouse management, seed starting, planting, weeding, harvesting, irrigation, cultivation, composting, cover cropping, distribution, planning and observation. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will contribute to the success of our farming operations while providing you with valuable hands-on experience in agriculture. This position is paid and offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in a fast-paced, rewarding setting. Responsibilities Prepare soil, plant seeds, and transplant seedlings. Weed, water, and cultivate crops to maintain healthy fields. Harvest produce and prepare it for distribution to members. Assist members on pickup days by answering questions and providing support. Help prepare for and participate in farm events and activities. Clean and maintain farm buildings, equipment, and trucks. Keep the Farm Manager informed about progress and any issues. Arrive on time, follow schedules, and work cooperatively with coworkers. Follow safe work procedures in carrying out responsibilities and in using equipment, and wears appropriate attire and safety equipment as required, i.e. work shoes, gloves, tick repellent. Qualifications Minimum of a high school diploma or the equivalent. One or more years' experience as farmer/grower preferred. Must hold a valid driver's license. Must be reliable. Strong interest in sustainable agriculture and familiarity with the concept of Community Supported Agriculture and its relationship with the environment. Knowledge of organic integrated pest management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with others and effectively with the staff and members of Red Hill Farm. Ability to take direction, and work independently as well as a contributing team member. Excellent time management skills.
Physical Requirements Ability to:
Lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds. Tolerate long periods of standing, walking, kneeling and repetitive bending. Move throughout the day. Work outdoors and tolerate all weather conditions which can be extreme at times. Operate farm equipment and tools.Pay:
