Job Description

Horticulturalist, Native Plants Land Stewards is an ecologically based landscape design build firm. Our passion and commitment is in providing sustainable design, installation and management services in the residential, community and commercial sectors throughout the Delaware Valley region. We are currently seeking a Horticulturalist who will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including naturalistic gardens, meadow/woodland/streambank restoration, rain garden construction, invasive plant management among others. Knowledge of native plant communities as well as general horticultural practices such as planting and pruning is a must. This is a hands-on position, working as part of a small team or independently. The individual must be self-motivated and able to communicate, receive and give feedback in a professional manner with clients, coworkers and collaborators. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Collaborate on landscape plan development and consult with clients on ad hoc design Assist with site preparation, plant procurement, placement, and installation Develop and execute management plans for residential and institutional clients, including weed management in naturalistic settings; nutrient cycling; pruning and editing Successful candidates must be: Willing to work in various weather conditions Able to lift a minimum of 50lbs. Able to read and understand landscape and construction plans Able to adapt to meet project deadlines Must be able to communicate effectively and constructively with management and other team members Ailling to work occasional weekends on as needed basis
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years experience working in professional capacity in landscape industry and 3 years experience working with native plants Professional studies within fields of horticulture, ecology, landscape architecture or related field of study, preferred Proficiency working with power tools (line trimmer, chainsaw, etc.) Knowledgeable with native plant communities and sustainable landscape strategies, including stormwater management and habitat enhancement Ability to understand overall goals of projects while recognizing respective intricacies and nuances Demonstrate critical thinking skills and adaptability to achieve stated goals as conditions or unforeseen circumstances arise
