Job Description
Maintain/care for indoor plants year-round in commercial accounts; work with management to keep plants and flowers upgraded when needed, looking good at all times, and healthy. This includes watering, grooming, and cleaning of the leaves. Travel to different accounts to water, groom, clean, trim and install indoor plants. Help maintain plant replacements for color and orchid rotation programs and general plant upgrades. Help to design and install new accounts when needed, selecting and quoting containers and plants to use. Position is flexible on hours depending on applicant's availability and desired number of work hours/schedule per week. PSU students are encourage to apply for a few hours per week but should be available on a regular weekly schedule. Retired or partially employed individuals who may be interested in possibly learning this trade are also encourage to apply with the same regularity mentioned. There is some flexibility in schedule, but not much. Plants like regularity and we rely on each other to cover all the accounts weekly.
Other optional hours/work:
1) Visit the field office/delivery space 20 miles south of PSU weekly to sort, tag, and plan plant replacements for the week and help to water and groom inventory plants kept on site. Work with management to schedule jobs and replacements, arrange deliveries of plants, and discuss issues and concerns in accounts. Ideal candidate should be able to handle fast-paced job with lots of walking and bending/physical activity, some lifting up to 50 lbs on occasion, getting your hands dirty, being creative, and being able to handle the learning provided by caring for living plants (and keeping them alive). Prefer someone who is sociable, plant-loving and fun to be around. We nurture plants for a living, so kindness and compassion are great attributes. Prefer someone who is a team player who is looking for a challenging but rewarding career change. This is starting as a part-time position, starting at three days per week, with room to advance to more hours after training and when jobs are being installed. We train. This is a permanent year round position.Job Type:
