This position will pperates vehicles with a total GCWR of 26,001 or more pounds; participate in the operation of trucks, tractors, motor grader, backhoe and farming machinery of 120 hp for site maintenance, improvement, renovation and construction projects on the site's grounds, waterways, spillways, wildlife habitat areas, canals, and levees; farm for wildlife food production program; repair, build, and monitor the use of artificial nest structures including wood duck houses, bluebird houses and goose islands; provide on-the-job training to new employees and volunteers to familiarize them with site facilities, programs, tools and equipment; build forms for concrete, plow and shovel snow, re-roof/re-shingle buildings, and patch roads. Essential Functions Under direct supervision, performs semi-skilled and routine maintenance, operational and program support tasks at Rice Lake/Double "T" SF&WA Participates in the routine maintenance of the site's vehicles equipment and tools. Inspects to assure building and gates are properly locked. Inspects public use areas for safety hazards. On an intermittent or seasonal basis provides leadership and direction to seasonal employees, volunteers and other staff. Assists with maintenance of site buildings and grounds. Performs semi-skilled cyclical and routine maintenance work to site buildings. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualification Requires education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and two years maintenance or farming experience preferably associated with the building trades and/or the operation of heavy equipment and machinery. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of tools and equipment used in the trades and/or operation of heavy equipment or farm machinery and implements and/or warehousing. Two (2) years of experience following written and oral instructions. One (1) year of experience informing visitors of site facilities, programs, rules, and regulations. One (1) year of experience in outdoor recreation. One (1) year of experience in groundskeeping. Ability to lift, carry, and transport loads exceeding sixty pounds. Ability to walk over rough and broken terrain. Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification. Work Hours:
Both positions will work: Jan 1- April 30, Monday
- Friday, 7am-3pm; May 1
- Oct 15, Monday
- Friday 7am
- 3pm (rotataes every 4th weekend); From October 16
- December 31, one position will work Tuesday
- Sat and the other will work Sunday
- Thursday 4am
- 12pm, all schedules will include a 1/2 hr.
