Average POSITION SUMMARY
Farm technicians are responsible for daily farm operations including but not limited to overseeing and directing planting of crops, inspection of crops, pesticide and fertilizer application, overseeing the harvest of crops and the sorting and storage of harvested crops. Driving farm equipment, maintenance support of farm equipment, operation, maintenance, and servicing of irrigation engines and irrigation equipment, maintaining the appearance of the farm, and assisting the Operations Supervisor in achieving farm goals. FARM MANAGEMENT TECHNICIAN ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.
Efficiently and safely perform all crop and field tasks assigned by the supervisor. 2. Utilize farm equipment to perform daily tasks including but not limited to irrigation, tillage, planting, spot spraying, grain cart operation, harvest equipment operation and mowing. 3. Communicate daily with Field Operation Supervisor and Irrigation Manager on scheduling and logistics. 4. Maintain equipment including daily preventive and repair maintenance, and scheduling routine maintenance checkups. 5. Operate farm machinery, including tractors, plows, mowers, combines, balers, sprayers, earthmoving equipment, or trucks. 6. Record data pertaining to crop care. 7. Maintain or repair agricultural facilities, equipment, or tools to ensure operational readiness, safety, and cleanliness. 8. Perform crop production duties, such as tilling, hoeing, pruning, weeding, or harvesting crops. 9. Examine crops to determine the presence of diseases or other problems. 10. Supervise pest or weed control operations, including locating and identifying pests or weeds, selecting chemicals and application methods, or scheduling application. 11. Coordinate irrigation schedule and specifications with supervisor. 12. Recommend and implement approved irrigation plans. 13. Assist with irrigation projects and maintenance, as instructed. 14. Utilize all equipment technology to effectively apply chemicals, fertilizers, and manure. 15. Efficiently and effectively operate any sprayers in the field. 16. Assist in writing SOP's 17. Follow all SOPs. 18. Conduct and document pre and post equipment use inspections and complete associated recordkeeping. 19. Communicate inventory needs with supervisor. 20. Provide input into improvements for greater efficiency 21. Clean all equipment at the end of each season. 22. Maintain, clean, and organize the shop and other work facilities. 23. Follow all safety guidelines. Education:
None Experience:
At least 2 years' farm experience with heavy equipment and trucks is required Basic knowledge of big engine mechanics is required. CDL Required Worksite:
