KEY RESULT AREAS

Primary function is to operate all receiving equipment to receive truck or rail ingredients and store in appropriate bins. This includes the operation of all receiving conveyors, belts, legs, distribution equipment, front-end loaders, and dump trucks. SCOPE Nacogdoches Grain Elevator

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Receive all ingredients by truck and rail, and transfer to the appropriate bins. Follow pre-established procedures to prevent cross contamination. Monitor bin inventories to ensure adequate operating inventories. Sample all loads prior to receiving according to established procedures. Safely operate the above mentioned equipment, starting and stopping in a manner so not to harm the equipment, yourself, or other employees. Commit to being at work on time and on assigned days. Maintain an attitude of teamwork and cooperation. Keep work area clean, well swept, and neat in appearance at all times. Perform other duties as assigned within the limits of training and physical and mental abilities.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Report directly to grain elevator lead man. Work closely with and assist Maintenance Department. Work closely with the feed mill control room operator, feed mill ingredient transfer operator, and shift supervisors. Work closely with the Quality Assurance Department. Work closely with the Truck Office. Work closely with the Pet Food Plant.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES

Unload rail cars and trucks. Check and record bin measurements. Probe and sample rail cars and trucks. Perform work area clean-up. Use rail car unloading cable system. Transfer grain and ingredients. Communicate problems concerning products or equipment to the lead man. Examine every load of ingredients visually. Fill out ingredient receiving reports. Follow all established elevator safety rules. Load and unload company trucks. Transport ingredients to the pet food plant. Weigh-in and weigh-out ingredient trucks. Unload and sweep out company ingredient trailers. Assist block manufacturing personnel with folding boxes as needed.

Employees in this position must be able to perform under the following conditions: Eye-hand coordination. Manual and finger dexterity. Frequent climbing, kneeling, pushing and pulling. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Ability to determine various types of odors. Must repeatedly maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, stooping/bending, or climbing. Frequent stooping/bending; requires full use of lower extremities and back muscles. Must be able to climb a ladder. Ability to react quickly in emergency situations. Must know the start-up and shut-down procedures. Must have adequate reading skills to read information on shipping list, bin inventory report, posted safety signs, and to follow written instructions. Must have adequate writing skills to enter all data on weight tickets and elevator bin inventory. Must have adequate mechanical skills to operate and maintain dump trucks, front-end loader, and elevator transfer equipment. Ability to relate with coworkers, supervisors, and delivery drivers to enhance the efficient operation of the feed plant and grain elevator. Ability to maintain job-required attention to detail over an extended period of time. Ability to work without close supervision. Dusty conditions that frequently requires the wearing of goggles and dust respirator. Exposure to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. Areas of varying light intensity, some quite dim. Frequently in confined areas. Repeated proximity to moving mechanical parts. Frequent exposure to high places of 250 or more feet.
