Job Description:
Do you have a passion for plants, an interest in native ecosystems, and a knack for problem solving? EcoPoint's Native Plant Greenhouse and Farm in Fairfield, UT is seeking to hire hardworking and dedicated seasonal laborers to join our team during the upcoming growing season. The ideal candidate will have a passion for plants and a strong work ethic, with a background in farming, agriculture, landscaping, or horticulture. The following is a list of possible physical capabilities and proficiencies required to fulfill the duties of this position: Walking 1-5 miles per day Carrying a load of approximately 20 lbs. for long distances Lifting material with a weight of up to 50 lbs. Possess a valid Driver's License (with clean driving record) Drive company vehicles in a safe and conscientious manner Working in extreme conditions (i.e. hot or cold weather, wind and insects) Able to work long hours when needed Comfortable working in remote conditions Must pass DOT medical examination and drug screening
Preferred Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent Basic knowledge of regional vegetation including noxious weeds and native vegetation, additionally able to identify them in the field Experience working in a plant nursery or farm setting preferred Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong work ethic and attention to detail Experience operating UTV/ATV's in a safe manner Experience operating other construction equipment (tractors, skid steers, excavators)
Key Responsibilities:
General greenhouse labor including cleaning and filling pots/trays, sowing seed, transplanting seedings, and maintaining healthy plant growth. Ensuring nursery stock is getting adequate watering and fertilizing Maintaining environmental controls and irrigation systems Preparing plants for shipment to customers General farm maintenance including weeding, preparing seed increase beds, planting, harvesting seed, and seed cleaning. Equipment operation and maintenance, including company vehicles, tractors, ATVs, loaders, tray fillers, and seeders. Overnight travel might be required for field work and special projects (seed collection, restoration planting, etc.). Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and job safety analyses (JSAs). Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations related to chemical handling and application. Immediately report safety hazards, near misses, or incidents to supervision.
