Irrigation Specialist I - Watermaster

This position offers the opportunity to work outdoors and make a visible, lasting impact on Utah Valley University's campus by helping maintain the irrigation systems that support approximately 300 acres of university property. The role involves repairing and installing valves, pipes, and sprinkler heads, operating light equipment, and assisting with irrigation drawings and system updates. Each day brings hands-on, problem-solving work that directly contributes to the health, appearance, and sustainability of campus landscapes. Repairs sprinkler heads and adjusts heads as needed. Repairs pipes, PVC, steel, ductile, and copper /" through ". Monitors and maintains pump stations and filters. Monitors the Maxicom system and controllers and makes recommendations to Watermaster. Repairs power and communication wires from volt to volt. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Performs snow removal in a safe and timely fashion on all UVU properties. Graduated with a standard high school diploma or the equivalent plus one to three years of experience related to key roles and responsibilities.

Licenses/Certifications:

Must have a valid driver's license. Knowledge Knowledge of the principles and practices of landscaping and grounds maintenance. Skills Skills in pipe repair and gluing of PVC pipe and fittings. Skills in the operation of hand tools and testing equipment. Skills in the operation of light and heavy equipment. Abilities Ability to read and interpret blueprints, staking, and surveying materials. Ability to calculate water pressure and proper pipe sizing. Ability to operate light trucks and tractors. Ability to operate computer-type controllers.
