The ideal candidate will assist in the daily operations and responsibilities of a fish hatchery farm, contributing to the conservation and management of aquatic resources. Objectives
  • To produce high quality rainbow trout fingerlings / brood stock as per the production plan.
  • To operate within agreed production protocols.
  • Ensure that all equipement used is maintained in good clean working condition.
  • Conduct all activities according to established SOPs. Operational Duties The animals within the care of the company should be treated with respect and high regard for welfare standards. Feed the fish according to instructions from the Site Lead or Assistant Site Lead, and record feed amounts in the proper template.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations Maintain all the biosecurity stations in good condition and replace disinfectant solutions according to the proper schedule as provided by the Site Lead / Assistant Site Lead.
Remove mortality according to SOPs and record in the proper template. Take weight samples according to the instructions from the Site Lead or Assistant Lead and record these values in the proper template. Proficiency in data collection and record-keeping Take DO and temperature readings daily or at the frequency designated by the Site Lead. Clean the flumes and ponds according to the schedule provided by the Site Lead. Handle fish according to the SOPs (handling of fish applies to: applying vaccinations and injections, grading fish, moving fish, loading fish and any other handling of stock as deemed necessary) according to the plan provided by the Site Lead. Maintain the cleanliness of all the work surfaces and workstations. Be careful and make sure all equipment provided for completing jobs on the farm are in good working order. Participate in all trainings according to the company plan (health & safety programs, feed improvements, etc.). Follow the instructions of both the Managers and Site Lead. Inform the Site Lead about any issues or problems that you see around the farm immediately. Capability for heavy lifting as needed Mechanical aptitude for equipment/ vehicle operation and daily maintenance Employee Relations
  • Maintain standards in accordance with the companies mission statement, policy and procedure and adhere to the Employee Handbook and HR training.
  • Ensure respectful, good employee relations with a professional
  • team first demeanor at all times.
Environmental Policy Follow all proper environmental protection procedures so that these processes adhere to the relevant environmental legislation. Ensure that all practices on farm respect and support a healthy local environment. Qualifications Strong data collection and analysis skills Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks Proficient in basic math for measurements and calculations Experience in animal handling and care Understanding of aquaculture/ agricultural practices and environmental bio security
