Irrigation Technician Location:
Vancouver, WA Job Summary We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Irrigation Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial irrigation systems. This role is responsible for diagnosing system issues, performing controller programming, repairing irrigation components, and ensuring systems operate efficiently to support healthy landscape conditions. The ideal candidate has hands-on irrigation experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in outdoor environments. Candidates should be customer-service focused, safety-oriented, and capable of communicating repairs and recommendations clearly to clients and internal teams. Experience with smart irrigation technology and water conservation practices is highly preferred. Minimum Qualifications Education High school diploma or GED preferred Experience Minimum 1-2 years of irrigation industry experience preferred Experience with commercial irrigation systems preferred Licenses Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Specialized Skills Basic understanding of irrigation systems, components, and troubleshooting
Knowledge of:
Valves Controllers Sprinkler heads Pipe repair Drip irrigation systems Electrical troubleshooting (24VAC systems) Ability to diagnose and repair irrigation system issues Experience performing: System startups Winterizations/blowouts Controller programming Leak detection Wire tracing Head adjustments and nozzle replacement Ability to read irrigation maps and site layouts preferred Familiarity with smart irrigation controllers preferred, including products from Weathermatic, Hunter Industries, and Rain Bird Preferred Skills Experience using mobile field service software Knowledge of water management and conservation practices Ability to train junior technicians Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Punctual, dependable, and safety-oriented Ability to document repairs and communicate findings clearly Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair irrigation system issues Perform irrigation system startups and winterizations/blowouts Program and troubleshoot irrigation controllers Conduct leak detection and wire tracing Adjust sprinkler heads and replace nozzles Repair pipes and irrigation components Document repairs and communicate service findings clearly Maintain safe operation of tools and equipment Provide professional customer service while working on-site Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
