Job Description

Join River Country Co-op and play a key role in transforming locally sourced grain into high-quality feed ingredients. We're looking for a mechanically minded individual who enjoys working with equipment, solving problems, and taking pride in producing a quality product. No grain roasting experience? We provide training for the right candidate. River Country Co-op is a diversified cooperative serving the Heartland of Wisconsin. We are seeking a Grain Operations Technician to support grain roasting and day-to-day facility operations at our Maine location near Wausau, WI. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined, detail-oriented individual with an interest in grain quality, equipment operation, and process control. A customer-focused mindset and strong safety awareness are essential.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Grain Roasting Operations Operate and monitor grain roasting equipment for consistent quality and efficiency Adjust temperature, timing, and flow to meet product specifications Monitor grain condition including moisture, aroma, color, and movement Identify and troubleshoot mechanical or process issues Perform routine cleaning, inspections, and minor repairs Blend grain as needed to minimize shrink and prevent product loss Safety Follow all OSHA and cooperative safety policies Utilize lockout/tagout, hot work, confined space permits, and maintenance logs Assist with ice and snow removal to maintain safe working conditions Grain Quality & Storage Operate aeration fans under favorable conditions Monitor bin temperatures and grain condition Communicate grain quality concerns to management Equipment & Facility Maintenance Complete maintenance logs accurately and consistently Perform preventative maintenance on roasting and grain handling equipment Maintain vehicles, machinery, and overall site cleanliness Lawn care, weed control, and snow removal as needed Accuracy, Communication & Teamwork Accurately complete scale tickets and operational documentation Communicate grain levels and roasting schedules to management Relay special instructions to accounting when necessary Maintain professional, respectful interactions with customers and coworkers Support team members and maintain a positive, flexible attitude Preferred Qualifications Mechanically inclined with troubleshooting ability Experience in grain handling, roasting, feed milling, or agricultural processing preferred Strong attention to detail and safety Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced agricultural environment Benefits Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance 401(k) with
