Job Description

SUMMARY:
The Crew Lead person is responsible for providing guidance and support on the day-to-day field/crew operations including but not limited to: ground preparation and field establishment, fumigation, irrigation, planting, weed control, pest scouting, pesticide/fungicides applications, safe operation of equipment and/or machinery,oversight of general field laborers during planting, growing, pre-harvest, harvest, and post-harvest season. This position provides direct support to the Farm Supervisors and Managers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
  • Guide field labor with the goal of maximizing efficiency and productivity of field operations.
  • Provide direct support to Supervisors during, planting, flower cutting, weeding, runner setting, and digging crew.
  • Assist in assuring sufficient resource availability, allocations and proper employee trainings are conducted and distributing safety gear, shade trailers, water, and restrooms are available as needed.
  • Assist in posting all required notifications including chemical and safety signs.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment required for use by general laborers in your departments.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.
  • Operate equipment and machinery as needed throughout the year
  • Inform Supervisor and/or Farm Manager apprised of any unsafe conditions, concerns, or issues that may arise.
  • Assist staff with problem solving as required.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Working knowledge of general farm operations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are required to work with and supervise employees with a wide range of skill sets, educational levels and work experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate equipment and/or machinery including but not limited to tractors, forklifts, caterpillars, plant diggers, bin carriers, and disks. Ability to train others in the safe operation of equipment and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Ability to work independently using effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to speak, read and write conversational English and Spanish preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or G.E.D. and a minimum of one (1) year progressively responsible experience in the Agriculture industry or related field.
Pay:
$22.00 - $28.00 per hour
