Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Beekeeper or Assistant Beekeeper with a background in commercial beekeeping. This role involves managing and maintaining healthy colonies for large-scale pollination, splitting, assembling frames, general maintenance, etc. The position requires hands-on expertise and a deep understanding of commercial beekeeping practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage honeybee colonies to ensure optimal health and productivity for pollination. Monitor hive conditions and address issues such as pests, diseases, and queen health. Transport and set up hives for pollination assignments in orchards. Perform routine maintenance and inspections of hives. Collaborate with other team members to meet pollination targets and timelines. Maintain detailed records of hive activities and conditions.
Qualifications:
Required:
Proven commercial beekeeping experience (3+ years preferred). Experience with pollination. Knowledge of hive management, pest control, and bee health. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions carrying up to 75 lbs. Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed. Ability to accurately and timely clock in/out working hours in cell phone app.
Preferred:
Familiarity with pollination technology or equipment. Strong understanding of honeybee biology and behavior.
