Jerry Rose, Inc. is a third-generation company with divisions in floral and event design, as well as home and garden design. Located in Maplewood and Summit, NJ, we are a small, dynamic, and talented team dedicated to designing and producing high-end events and installations.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Foreman/Planting Field Manager to join our team. This individual will manage seasonal container planting activities, lead and motivate our installation team, and ensure the highest quality standards. This role reports directly to the Owner.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily seasonal planting activities, including resources (plants, staffing, tools, vehicles, etc.). Lead, motivate, and develop the installation team to foster a productive work environment. Collaborate with the owner to plan future planting services and to organize installations. Conduct follow-up visits to client sites for quality assurance and provide feedback to the team. Maintain relationships with outside vendors and coordinate joint installations (e.g., irrigation). Provide excellent customer service and resolve client questions and concerns. Manage the Garden Design team in the Owner's absence, as needed. Assist in event installations during off-seasons. Attend weekly meetings to review scheduled installations, plan schedules, and determine product needs.
Qualifications:
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in horticulture or equivalent work experience leading a landscaping team. 5+ years of hands-on experience selecting plants and installing seasonal in-ground landscaping and container plantings. Advanced knowledge for Zones 5 and colder. Experience in planning and managing holiday installations, including removal and packing. Proven ability to establish and build client relationships. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. Flexible work schedule, including weekend and holiday availability, with the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Willingness to work extended hours during peak business periods.
Requirements:
Candidates must provide details and photographs of past installations, budgets, and any other material demonstrating proficiency in the garden landscape design process.
Other Information:
This is a full-time position based in our Maplewood and Summit, NJ locations. Flexibility is required, including weekend availability and extended workdays/weeks during peak business periods. How to
