In this vital role, you will oversee the management of natural areas, ensuring the preservation and enhancement of biodiversity while complying with environmental laws and regulations. Your expertise will drive innovative strategies for habitat improvement, species protection, and sustainable land use. The following is a list of general responsibilities for this position. It is understood that these general responsibilities are not inclusive of all the duties that this position requires, but instead ,are intended as a general scope of work. Achieve and develop wildlife habitat projects with a specialized emphasis on migratory waterfowl and upland birds. Crew leader in the collection of data for scientific purposes. Crew leader in field projects that take place throughout the year. Moist soil management for brood and wintering waterfowl areas. Monitor existing and recommend new ideas for expansion of nesting habitat and agricultural practices to improve nesting production. Develop baseline metrics to improve, monitor and manage performance of habitat and waterfowl carrying capacity. Consistently bring new ideas to management and ownership to improve all aspects of the habitat and wintering waterfowl grounds. Monitor waterfowl activities and pond management during the winter season. Experienced and capable in large scale agricultural practices. Must have good hospitality skills and present well with guest of the ranch. Manage and participate in predator management. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations. Retain specialized specific professional knowledge of wildlife management practices to share and oversee implementation of these practices with other company employees. Perform work that is intellectual in character of which work requires consistent exercise of discretion and judgment. Any other services, acts or things necessary or advisable to manage and conduct the business of the Company. Other duties may be assigned, if deemed necessary, by the Company.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must be highly organized and detail orientated. Good verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of desktop computer and Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, GPS and computerized equipment. Excellent Project Management skills. Must have good Research Skills. Able to perform Wildlife and Environmental Data collection and entry. Possess Initiative and recommendations to General Manager and ownership. Ability to deal with complexity and constantly changing dynamics. Bachelor's degree in the field of wildlife management. Minimum 5 years' experience attained through work in the wildlife field. This position reports to the General Manager. This position may directly supervise other employees. The position shall carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures and applicable laws. Such supervisory responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems and disputes. This position is required to communicate by e-mail, telephone, facsimile, team meetings and in person. Salary based on experience. Position shall also receive such benefits and entitlements as is usual and customary for the Company to provide an employee of like status and position and are consistent with the Company's established policies and procedures on employment, which may be revised from time to time in the sole discretion of the Company.
