OEI, a California-based environmental consulting firm with 30 years of expertise is seeking a full-time Conservation & Open Space Land Manager to join our dynamic team in our San Ramon and Folsom offices.

Position Overview:

As a Conservation & Open Space Land Manager, you will perform work related to the management and protection of habitat associated with threatened, endangered, and other special-status wildlife and plant species. The Land Manager role will include natural resource conservation planning and responsibility for optimizing designated company land assets by improving land management performance and processes, along with improving and implementing environment-related processes and compliance assurance. This includes overseeing mitigation bank development. The Land Manager will be responsible for the planning, execution, and tracking of new mitigation project approvals and will assist with regional compliance tracking of approved mitigation projects as well as establish methods for supporting all conservation projects during the planning, permitting design, and implementation.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Biology, Botany, Ecology, Natural Resources, or a related field; Master's/Graduate Degree preferred. Strong project management experience. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is essential. Must be able to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must be a team player and have strong communication skills both in person and in writing. Requires strong MS Word, Excel, and Outlook abilities. Experience in maintaining project deadlines and budgets. Excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills. The candidate must have excellent writing skills. Demonstrated ability to lead and work in a cross-disciplinary team environment. Practical experience in terrestrial/aquatic habitat surveys, threatened/endangered species surveys, plant identification, wetland delineations, stream assessments, and regulatory coordination/permitting. Demonstrated field experience with California flora and fauna. Reliable transportation to field sites.

Responsibilities:

As a Conservation & Open Space Land Manager, your responsibilities will include: Performing biological surveys/assessments for plant and wildlife species in various habitats. Managing properties in association with Long-Term Resource Management Plans; Assistance with open space land acquisition which would include assessment for special status species and sensitive habitat with the ability to identify management goals and objectives; Overseeing and implementing a variety of fuel management, habitat restoration, and invasive species control plans; Collaborating on natural resource projects such as regional vegetation mapping or specific species surveys; Preparation of Long-Term Resource Management Plans, Mitigation Monitoring Plans, and Grazing Management Plans; Preparation of Mitigation/Conservation Banking documents, including Prospectus, Banking Instrument and all technical documents, conservation easement, endowment, and credit releases; Certifying that all required reports are submitted and ensuring that necessary data is gathered in a timely and effective manner; Assisting in project budget and property analysis record (PAR) development as well as managing and tracking financial expenditures to the approved budget; Preparing environmental documentation for approval for new or existing mitigation sites and ensuring they are completed accurately, completely, and on time; Managing site-specific compliance issues such as annual reports, extensions, compliance demonstration, etc.; Managing sub-contractors for cattle grazing, fence repair and replacement, ranch roach maintenance, fire suppression, well and irrigation maintenance, and other land management related needs; Advising operations on regulatory requirements and providing technical support as needed; Advising management on land-related issues, providing critical and strategic thinking to identify and minimize risks and maximize habitat value; Ability to read and interpret legal descriptions and corresponding exhibits, parcel maps, work orders, and engineering drawings; Promoting and assisting with the implementation of site biodiversity and sustainability projects; Other tasks related to land management matters as needed;

Travel Requirements:

$70,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
