This job posting is for six (6) Manager VI positions. The program is hiring six Manager positions statewide. Headquarters' locations will be determined based on program needs, applicant location, and overall flexibility, with final locations discussed with top-ranked candidates during the selection and offer process. Qualified candidates may have a better chance of being selected for one of the six Manager VI positions if they are willing to accept a position in any location statewide or relocate, if necessary. Under the direction of the Manufactured and Retail Food Unit Director, performs highly advanced, senior-level managerial work administering the daily operations and activities of the position's assigned Foods Branch. Manages one of eleven Field Inspection Branches of the statewide Manufactured and Retail Food Unit. Each Food Inspection Branch employs Registered Sanitarians responsible for inspections of Manufactured Foods, Retail Foods, Mobile Food Vendors, and Youth Camps, and related special investigations and complaint investigations. Provides technical expertise, oversight, and direction to staff and program functions. The position establishes goals; sets priorities; plans and assigns work; supervises staff performance; and is accountable for performance measures, outcomes, and program effectiveness. Responsibilities include evaluating resource needs; reviewing and approving purchase requests and travel expenditures; developing guidelines; and evaluating business functions and procedures for Branch programs. Identifies opportunities for process improvement and implements changes. Prepares or approves responses to legislative requests and public inquiries. Contributes to the development of rules. Provides oversight and coordination of Branch projects and initiatives. Represents Branch in cross-functional and other workgroup meetings. Collaborates with leadership and external stakeholders. Essential Job Functions (35%) Develops work plans, assigns and tracks inspections, coordinates special investigations, and ensures compliance with required timeframes and standards. Serves as a technical resource, acts as an emergency point of contact, and coordinates inspections with federal partners. Ensures staff travel is efficient, and certification requirements are met. Supports contract and partnership negotiations. (30%) Supervises inspection and support staff including assigning work, hiring, performance and conduct management, and merit recommendations. (15%) Assists leadership in determining training needs, evaluating inspection quality, and assessing regulatory compliance of inspected establishments. Supports legal actions, including testifying in court and serving as a witness or resource at legislative hearings, when requested. (10%) Prepares highly technical and complex reports related to food safety and Branch operations. Utilizes IT systems and software, such as Microsoft Office, inspection databases, and graphics software. (5%) Responds to requests for information and assistance from the public, regulated industry, the media, federal and state agencies, and other stakeholders. Delivers public presentations on subjects related to food and youth camp safety. (5%) Completes other duties as assigned to include, but not limited to, actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. May serve as backup to the Unit Director.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of:
regulations, statutes, processes and procedures related to Manufactured Foods, Retail Foods, Mobile Food Vendors, or Youth Camps; state or federal laws affecting department programs; regulatory principles and processes; leadership and management principles.Skill in:

N/A Initial Selection Criteria:
Five (5) years of experience in a field related to the regulatory oversight of foods or youth camp inspections. Four (4) years of experience supervising staff or leading program operations (e.g. planning, assigning, or evaluating the work of others). Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in science (biology, agricultural science, science-based degree).Additional Information:
