Job Description

Description:
The Tunnel Testing Technician will be trained to handle and release passerines into a flight tunnel, record flights with video camera, record data on site, and code flight data from video overview. They will also be responsible for safely handling and releasing all birds tested. They will be part of a larger team of bird banders operating out of Foreman's Branch Bird Observatory (FBBO). Additional duties include assisting in mist net extraction, banding, and aging of passerines that are being handled by FBBO staff as part of the on-going bird banding effort. Technician will also handle and coordinate safe and professional glass delivery and storage on site.
Qualifications:
B.A. or B.S. in biology, environmental studies or sciences, or a related field Prior experience in handling passerines Strong work ethic, communication skills, and the ability to work independently Prior experience in field research, monitoring, and/or data collection Ability to identify common passerines of the Northeast Ability to lift 50 lbs
