Preference given to individuals with experience in systems that more closely resemble environments like northern Minnesota. Prior experience studying beaver ecology as well as detailed knowledge of beaver behavior and sign, especially in environments similar to northern Minnesota. Experience assisting with the capture and collaring of at least 10 wolves or greater. Familiarity with capture methods used by the Voyageurs Wolf Project. Experience entering large amounts of field data, manipulating and managing large databases, and conducting quality assurance/quality control on entered data Temporary Nonexempt Summer Wildlife Technician Responsibilities The position will be focused on technician fieldwork to support study the summer ecology of wolves in a boreal forest environment. In particular, the duties of the position will entail: Assist in searching clusters of GPS locations from GPS-collared wolves to study the predation behavior of wolves, in particular, their predation behavior on beavers (50%) Assist in deploying and maintaining remote cameras to study wolf ecology (20%) Assist with capturing and collaring efforts of gray wolves (15%) Assist and support with data entry and collation, quality control/quality assurance of data, and miscellaneous data tasks (15%) Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology area focused on studying and conserving wildlife and fish and the habitats they depend on.
