Full Job Description General Summary of Job Duties:
The Aquarist III will be responsible for maintaining and caring for the fish, reptiles, and other sea creatures in Silverton Casino's 117,000-gallon aquarium. This may include feeding, cleaning, and monitoring the animals, as well as performing water quality tests and maintaining filtration systems.
General Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintain a high quality of guest service according to Silverton Be Amazing Service Standards. Thorough knowledge of applicable Company and departmental policies and procedures as well as the willingness to learn and follow any policy or procedure that may be introduced in the future. Adhere to all appearance and uniform standards. Maintain an open line of communication with Managers. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with guests, fellow Team Members, and Vendors. Ability to accept performance feedback in a professional manner. Regular attendance on all scheduled shifts is considered an essential function of the job. Arriving on time for all scheduled shifts is considered an essential function of the job. Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Education & Other Requirements:
Knowledge of aquarium systems, including life support systems for fish, animal husbandry, maintenance, and quarantine protocols for many marine species. Knowledge of basic fish biology. Knowledge of the basic principles of water filtration and tank cycling. Knowledge of health and safety measures for working in a 117,000-gallon saltwater aquarium and associated laboratory/quarantine facilities. The expertise of Hach and Thermo Scientific water quality testing equipment is a plus. Scuba certification or prepared to obtain scuba certification. Ability to communicate effectively with both employees and managers. Ability to maintain records and communicate effectively and diplomatically, both oral and written.
