Job Description

Come join the team at Passages Family Support. Passages Family Support is recruiting for experienced certified peer support specialists to work at Termonn, the first adult peer respite house in Spokane County. Termonn Peer Respite is a peer-run home-like environment for individuals age 18+ in a low level of crisis. Passages is recruiting to fill peer support specialist on call positions covering all shifts and days of the week, including holidays The peer support specialist will: 1) Promote engagement and develop positive relationships with Passages' Peer Respite clients. 2) Model and teach behaviors that lead to healthy choices, the development of resiliency, and the 10 Components of Recovery. 3) Support guests of the Peer Respite in accordance with their recovery plan using a strengths-based, recovery approach that acknowledges the whole person. 4) The Peer Specialist manages time effectively so that each guest has the opportunity to speak privately with staff should they wish to do so and that each guest's well-being is monitored. 5) The Peer Support Specialist provides individual and group activities, for example: talking, facilitating activities that address different dimensions of wellness (physical, emotional, social, financial, etc, music, crafts, watching t.v. with guests. 6) The Peer Support Specialist works with the guest to meet the goals identified in their Recovery Plan, including any health goals such as physical activity, healthy eating habits, smoking cessation. 7) The Peer Support Specialist works to ensure the house atmosphere contributes to rest and comfort of the guests 8) Appropriate professional boundaries are maintained between staff, guests, visitors and others with the expectation of discussions in weekly supervision and training in ethics and boundaries. 9) Peer Support Specialist practices and communicates to guests the need to maintain confidentiality and privacy. 10) Participate in house management by: a. Ensuring the house is kept tidy, welcoming, and hygienic. b. Ensuring assigned tasks are completed timely and in accordance with established procedures and infection control practices. c. Kitchen is inspected regularly throughout the shift to ensure food items are stored appropriately and the kitchen is clean. d. Any food handling is done according to accepted safe food handling procedures. e. Peer Respite staff shall perform minor housekeeping functions such as, for example, sweep, check refrigerator temperature, clean out the refrigerator for left over food when a guest leaves, change bedding when a guest leaves without checking out, etc. f. Assist in the checking out process for all guests. g. Change key codes or other assigned security functions when guests depart. h. If required, transport guests in the company vehicle for them to purchase food, or other activities required for their needs. i. When there are no assigned guests in Termonn , the Peer Specialist will participate in quality assurance projects, house maintenance activities (indoors and outdoors), and other assigned tasks to maintain Termonn . Minimum qualifications include at least two years' experience working as a CPC with individuals age 18 and older in a behavioral health agency. You must have your CPC and the GAP training or the 80 hour CPSS training. Passages is a licensed peer-run behavioral health organization. We invite you to work with a great team.
