04/13/2026 to 09/11/2026 About the position The Nampa Fish Hatchery is seeking a fisheries Bioaide for 5 months from Mid April 2026 to Mid September 2026. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) non-benefited position. Weekend and some holiday work is required on a rotation. The position may require camping in a remote location for up to 10 days at a time. General Information The Nampa Fish Hatchery is a resident trout rearing facility located on the south end of Nampa. It raises and stocks fish in every region in the state, providing catchable sized rainbow trout for redistribution from McCall, Sandpoint, Mullen, Clearwater and Sawtooth hatcheries. It also raises 30,000 Lahontan Cutthroat which are distributed out in the Owyhee Desert. Incumbents must be able to work a variable schedule under adverse weather conditions, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Qualifications Previous work experience and/or education in Aquaculture, Natural Resources or Biological Science preferred but not mandatory. Candidates with previous fish hatchery experience will be given preference. Will need mechanical experience/skills sufficient to operate machinery, pumps, lawn care equipment and perform general maintenance. Must be able to handle responsibility and work independently. Applicants will be required to work outdoors in and around water. Irregular work schedules are frequent; weekend, holiday and evening work will be required. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and be able to read, write andpute simple math. Responsibilities Incumbent must be able to perform routine fish rearing duties at a large trout fish hatchery with or without reasonable amodations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: weighing fish feed and feeding fish; cleaning raceways; maintaining grounds and equipment; crowding and netting fish; loading and unloading trucks; transporting fish; assisting in the trapping and spawning of kokanee salmon. Extended travel and camping will be required at times to a remote location for kokanee spawning operations. This position involves standing and working in cold water for up to eight hours per shift; lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; and working in extreme weather conditions.
