Job Description

DEPUTY HARBORMASTER
The Town of Dennis seeks qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Harbormaster. This position works under the direct supervision of the Harbormaster. 40 hours a week. Candidates should have thorough knowledge of waterway operations, boat handling, and rescue techniques, along with knowledge of applicable Massachusetts General Laws, Town bylaws and regulations. The minimum qualifications for the position include an : Associates degree or equivalent; and one to three (1-3) years prior work experience in harbor management and/or marine fish and wildlife management including shellfish propagation/cultivation including supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Strenuous physical effort is routinely required to lift heavy objects (between 60 - 100 lbs.) and swim when performing rescue operations. Must possess physical ability to perform search and rescue duties, and ability to climb in and out of boats.
