Aleknagik Island Lodge is a premier sport fishing destination located on Lake Aleknagik in the heart of Wood-Tikchik State Park — Alaska's largest state park and one of the most pristine wilderness regions in the world. We host small groups of guests each season for world-class fishing experiences targeting Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Arctic Char, Grayling, Northern Pike, and more. Our team is the backbone of the lodge experience. POSITION OVERVIEW
The General Lodge Staff position is a versatile, hands-on role that supports the overall operation of the lodge both indoors and outdoors. This individual will work closely with the Lodge Manager, guides, and kitchen staff to ensure guests have an outstanding experience from arrival to departure. No two days are the same — this role requires flexibility, a positive attitude, and a genuine desire to serve others in a remote wilderness setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Indoor Hospitality Duties:
Assist with meal preparation, food service, and dining room setup and cleanup Maintain cleanliness and organization of guest cabins, common areas, bathrooms, and the main lodge Greet and assist guests upon arrival and throughout their stay Change linens, restock supplies, and turn over guest rooms between groups Assist kitchen staff with dishes, food prep, and general cooking support as needed Laundry and housekeeping duties for both guest and staff areas Help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that reflects the lodge's hospitality standards
Outdoor Hospitality Duties:
Assist guides and guests with gear, equipment, and daily fishing logistics Help load and unload boats, floatplanes, and supply deliveries Clean and maintain fishing equipment, boats, docks, and outdoor common areas Assist with fish processing, cleaning, and packaging at the end of fishing days Maintain the exterior grounds of the lodge including pathways, fire areas, and outbuildings Support client arrivals and departures with luggage handling and guest assistance Assist with general property maintenance and upkeep tasks as directed
General Duties:
Work cooperatively as part of a small, close-knit team in a remote environment Follow all lodge safety protocols, bear safety guidelines, and emergency procedures Adapt to changing priorities and guest needs with a flexible, can-do attitude Represent Aleknagik Island Lodge with professionalism and enthusiasm at all times
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Must be 18 years of age or older Ability to work long hours (10-14 hour days) in a physically demanding remote environment Strong work ethic and willingness to take on a wide variety of tasks Positive attitude and genuine passion for hospitality and guest service Ability to work effectively as part of a small team with limited personal space and privacy Comfortable living and working in a remote Alaska wilderness setting with limited outside contact Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
Preferred:
Previous experience in hospitality, food service, lodge operations, or outdoor recreation Experience working in a remote or wilderness environment Basic knowledge of boating, fishing, or outdoor recreation Valid driver's license Wilderness First Aid or CPR certification is a plus

LIVING CONDITIONS & EXPECTATIONS
This position is located on a remote island in Lake Aleknagik, accessible only by floatplane or boat. Staff live on-site in shared lodge housing for the duration of the season. There is Wifi on the island. Candidates must be comfortable with remote living, close quarters with coworkers, and extended periods away from family and friends. The season is demanding-long days, physically challenging work, and unpredictable Alaska weather are part of the job. We are looking for individuals who see these conditions as part of the adventure, not as obstacles.
