Superior Fresh is an industry-leading aquaculture facility specializing in Atlantic salmon. Our Wisconsin facility is situated on a private 800-acre Native Restoration Preserve nestled in the picturesque Coulee Region. Our state-of-the-art, land-based recirculation aquaculture system is the first in the United States to raise Atlantic salmon. At Superior Fresh, we produce the freshest, healthiest food available year-round, while maintaining the highest sustainability standards. As an Aquaculture Technician you will be responsible for the daily operations and duties in the aquaculture portion of Superior Fresh, raising Atlantic salmon for consumption. Aquaculture Technicians are responsible for stocking, caring for, and harvesting fish. All operations will be done in accordance with the company HACCP and food safety plans, strict bio-security measures, and Standard Operating Procedures. This position will be responsible for all life stages of growth for Atlantic salmon and the associated systems in which they will be raised. Primary Job Functions and Responsibilities Perform routine fish husbandry tasks by following standard operating procedures and work instructions. Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of aquaculture systems, equipment and production areas. Prepare daily feed rations, feed fish and monitor feeding behavior. Record observations and report to management. Conduct mortality removal, record necessary data and report concerns to management. Record all necessary oxygen, water and aquaculture system data, report deviations to management. Input daily data registrations ensuring accurate and timely reporting. Complete equipment inspections and checklists. Operate hoists, lifts, cranes and pallet jacks to move feed and other supplies following all equipment safety procedures. Assist with fish moving events using nets, crowders, pumps and other supporting equipment. Operate Stunner/Bleeder to humanely harvest fish and assist with fish processing. Ensure adherence to biosecurity, occupational health and safety, and food safety practices while performing assigned tasks. Participate in weekend cover rotations to maintain production operations. Follow 5S standards for workplace organization and cleanliness. Attend required meetings and training sessions. Maintain professionalism by supporting Superior Fresh's core values. Aquaculture Technician Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent, required Bachelor's degree in aquaculture, biology, fisheries, or related field, preferred. Knowledge of aquaculture or aquaponics and having worked in an aquaculture facility or in a fisheries related field, preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Effective time management and organizational skills. Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Physical Requirements Fingering/Grasping/Feeling :
Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with both hands to include fish handing and maintenance repairs.
Standing/Walking :
Will remain standing for long periods of time and must be able to move about from one area of the workplace to another.
Climbing/Stooping/Bending/Kneeling/Reaching :
Will bend, twist, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach at or above shoulder level.
Lifting :
Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 25 lbs. continuously, 50 lbs. occasionally, and 100 lbs. rarely. When netting/moving fish, lifting will be continuously between 50 and 100 lbs. for periods of time.
Pulling/Pushing :
Will transport loads of up to 500 lbs. with a pallet jack or other assisting equipment.
Work Environment :
Our work environment is wet, humid and in an indoor temperature controlled (55 degrees) or freezer environment. Schedule Expectations Will include weekend rotations and holidays.
