FIELD QUALITY CONTROL SPECIALIST

Position Summary:

The Field Quality Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring all products harvested and packed in the field meet the quality standards set by Lakeside Organic Gardens, LLC (LOG). This position works directly at the harvest level, inspecting crops and packing operations to ensure crews are packing in accordance with Lakeside standards. The Field QC Specialist will also host customers and birddogs, escorting them on field tours to review crops and packing operations. Additionally, this role will support product aging reviews and provide assistance at the LOG shipping facility as needed. A company vehicle will be provided during working hours.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct daily field inspections at the harvest level to ensure crews are packing product in compliance with Lakeside Organic Gardens quality standards. Complete and submit daily field quality reports accurately documenting the quality of product being packed. Host customers and birddogs, driving them to and through active fields to review crop conditions, packing operations, and overall product quality on behalf of Lakeside Organic Gardens. Conduct regular product aging reviews, monitoring the shelf life and condition of packed product and reporting findings to the Sales Manager and Quality Control Manager in a timely manner. Identify and communicate any packing, product, or labeling issues to the Harvest Manager and Quality Control Manager immediately. Keep active, open communication with Sales, Harvest, Cooler, and Operations Management regarding field conditions and product quality. Monitor product from harvest to cooling times and ensure proper cold chain procedures are being followed. Work with harvest crews and management to resolve any quality or food safety issues identified in the field. Report all food safety concerns and assist in managing any food safety issues related to harvesting and packing operations. Provide support at the LOG shipping and receiving facility as needed. Assist in overseeing shipping and receiving operations in Holtville during the winter season. Monitor customer protection requests and report any quality-related losses. Other duties as assigned.

Pay:

$19.50 - $23.00 per hour
