Job Summary /Description:
Under general supervision, inspect and test the accuracy of large capacity scales such as vehicle scales, livestock scales, etc. Operate test equipment associated with the test unit. Drive the scale test unit to inspection sites. Enforcing the Georgia weights and measures laws and related regulations Testing, inspecting, and determining the accuracy of weighing and measuring devices used commercially in Georgia, including vehicle, livestock, hopper, warehouse, and forklift scales Investigating related consumer complaints and preparing documentation related to events This position requires occasional overnight travel This position is part of a two-person teamPreferred Qualifications:
Valid Georgia commercial driver's license (CDL) is preferred; however, if the selected candidate does not have a CDL, they must have a valid Georgia driver's license and be willing to obtain a CDL within six months of employment. DOA will pay any fees associated with the new license Must have a clean driving record Must have communication and customer service skills Maintain the State vehicle and all equipment for the job Be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions General knowledge of Windows operating systems and basic computer skills Basic mathematical skills High school diploma or GED required Selected applicants must reside or be willing to relocate within a reasonable distance of the assigned territoryPhysical Demands:
Standing for long periods of time; intermittent periods of walking, squatting, kneeling, or driving Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. for short periods of timeOther Duties:

- High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience in the area of assignment; or two (2) years of college, which included 12 semester hours or 20 quarter hours in chemistry or life sciences.
