Job Description

Island Park Watercraft Inspectors at Idaho Division of Human Resources in Idaho Falls, Idaho, United States Job Description "Dedicated to Advancing, Protecting and Promoting Idaho Agriculture with a Balanced Approach to Industry and Consumers ." The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting temporary boat inspectors located in Island Park, ID. Housing is provided. We're currently accepting applications, which will be reviewed periodically. To ensure consideration, please apply as soon as possible. The position will run through October 2026. This position does not have benefits.
Example of Duties:
This job is part of the agency's statewide invasive species prevention program. This position will serve as a member of a watercraft inspection team stationed at the Island Park inspection station in Island Park, Idaho. These positions inspect watercraft to prevent the spread of zebra/quagga mussels and other Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) from infested states. The position will use an established protocol to inspect watercraft and conduct hotwashes on high-risk conveyances; conducting quality control activities at watercraft inspection stations; setting up and taking down portable traffic signs on daily basis; and properly entering detailed watercraft data on an electronic inspection form. Housing is available by ISDA, including 2 trailers with en suite. Transportation will be provided from St. Anthony to the inspection site.
Requirements:
The successful applicant must be able to fulfill the following duties:
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to pay attention to detail when conducting watercraft inspections
  • Work in various types of weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to bend and crawl underneath watercraft, when necessary and with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Possibility of working evenings, weekends, or long hours
  • May have to use your own reliable transportation to go between job sites
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be 18 years of age or older Desired Qualifications
  • Aquatic biology, ecology or field inspection experience
  • Experience with pressure washers
