This Nursery Technician assists with nursery field irrigation, pesticide application, lifting and packaging, and all other activities as directed. The position reports to the Lead Field Operations Technician. The position is a member of the nursery team responsible for field operations at Towner State Tree Nursery. Work Schedule :
40 hours/week; 8•5 or similar, M•F, with occasional evening and weekend work required. Hiring Range:
$45,000•$49,000 + DOE Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations. Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in horticulture, plant sciences, or related field OR 2 years of directly related experience in an agriculture setting OR combination of education and experience. Valid driver's license. Ability to attain ND Commercial/Public Applicator certification after hire. Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum plus: Knowledge of plant propagation. Experience with irrigation systems. Knowledge of trees and shrubs (identification, growth rates, species used in the Northern Plains). Class B CDL License. ND Commercial/Public Pesticide Applicator certification. Core Competencies:
Basic math skills to calculate pesticide rates and mixtures and similar calculations. Technology skills adequate to use email, spreadsheets, word processing, and to enter field records and location data into various software applications. Problem solving skills•able to identify and calmly resolve issues. Safely and effectively operate pesticide application equipment, irrigation equipment, grounds maintenance equipment, hand tools and power tools. Follow directions, policies, and procedures. Engage in respectful discussions. Work cooperatively with others. Applicant Materials Required:

The North Dakota Forest Service is part of North Dakota State University and is the state agency which administers cooperative forestry programs statewide.
