Job Description

Founded in 1855, Collins is family-owned and produces softwood and hardwood products at their facilities in Chester, California, Lakeview, Oregon and Kane, Pennsylvania. In Chester, Collins has the Builders Supply retail hardware and building materials store. Collins is highly respected for their sustainable forest management, practiced across their 370,000 acres of FSC®-certified lands in California, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.
Position Summary:
The Seasonal Forestry Help assists with all aspects of forest land management on the FSC certified, 118-thousand-acre Collins Pennsylvania Forest.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Comply with safety standards at all times and correct/report any observed safety hazards. Perform boundary line maintenance, tree planting, GPS data collection, and invasive species treatments (mechanical and herbicide). Keep detailed records of all tasks. Work independently in remote locations with little supervision. Perform additional duties as required by supervisor. On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work as an effective member of a team. Strong sense of environmental stewardship and willingness to promote the integrity of the company. Basic understanding of maps preferred. Ability to identify forest plants preferred. Ability to keep detailed records and maps. Must be able to perform rigorous, field-based work in all weather conditions, on steep, brush-filled terrain. Ability to follow all company, state and federal safety rules when performing required job duties. Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening. Ability to pass a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Report.
Education and Experience:
In progress of pursuing a degree in forestry or natural resources preferred.
Environmental Conditions:
May be exposed to dust, noise, trip hazards, pesticides, and extreme temperature and weather conditions. #LI-DNI
