Performs winter prols of wilderness boundaries and crucial winter wildlife closures by snowmobile, skis, ATV, or snow shoes to ensure compliance with winter recreion regulions. Plans, schedules, and accomplishes the day-to-day operions and maintenance tasks for recreion activities in general forest areas, trails, and in designed wilderness according to approved plans. Provides daily user counts and maintains da base of informion to be included in yearend reports. Monitors use and user impacts, and reports findings. Monitors the condition and use of trails and oversees the construction and maintenance of winter trails. May perform law enforcement/Forest Protection Officer responsibilities using all terrain vehicles (ATV's), and snowmobiles to prol unit roads and trails. Provides and supports Forest Law Enforcement efforts in enforcing rules and regulions. Issues violions for misdemeanor or infraction of code of federal regulions. Documents, reports, and files incident reports. Collects, compiles, and summarizes avalanche da and observions. Provides reports to the Avalanche Center. Provides assistance in presenting the educion program for employees and the public about avalanches. As requested, provides support to search and rescue operions. Working as a Forest Protection Officer (FPO) or similar position writing incident reports or violion notices as needed; providing technical support to the recreion program on the unit performing winter prols of wilderness boundaries to assure compliance with winter recreion regulions and winter travel plans; providing informion on resource management practices and recreion regulions, opportunities, and restrictions; ensuring recreion areas and trails were maintained in accordance with standards; and performing crew-based forestry reled support work, such as for recreion or trail maintenance projects. Selective Placement Factors Incumbent must meet the Minimum Level I American Avalanche Associion or equivalent certificion. First Aid and CPR certificion is required to perform duties.
