We were founded in 1977 by Arctic Slope Regional Corporation. The purpose of AEF was to support our shareholders in the pursuit of training and higher education through scholarship funding. Since its inception, the Foundation has expanded into Iñupiaq cultural programming and curriculum. The newly created Cultural Education Program offers traditional education related to language, art, hunting and gathering, and more for the Iñupiat people of North Slope Alaska. Summary This position enriches the camping experience by providing assistance with cultural activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Attend an orientation to prepare for the camp before kids fly in. Work with AEF staff in running select camp activities. These may include short language lessons, Lead a storytelling session or other interactive session to share personal cultural knowledge, stories, history about the land we are visiting, weather patterns, hunting, fishing, etc., each day while at camp. Encourage campers to behave in a manner according to the Iñupiat Values. Encourage camper participation in camp activities. Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the camp program through the duration of the camp. Other related duties may also be assigned. Qualifications Must be able to pass a background check, and work with children of all ages. Ability to work at a remote setting Positive role model Inupiaq fluency is preferred.
