Hourly Exempt Job Summary:
A Boxer's function is to package finished paper products into boxes and shipping containers. It is analogous to assembly line work in that the same operation is repeated continuously the entire day. Product will come down the conveyor at the rate of 2 to 6 rolls every 20 to 35 seconds. This is a fast-paced environment
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Check work order to determine which bags, caps boxes and labels will be needed for the day.
  • Print labels for the product.
  • Bag and Box product.
o The finished roll gets a cap in one end of the core, the bag is slid over the roll and the other end is tucked in and capped. o The corresponding label is applied level and smooth, 2" from the top for Dietzgen product and approximately 1/3rd to halfway down for Canon product. o Finished roll is inserted into box and flaps are folded and glued. You will be required to plug in glue guns and get supply of glue sticks as needed. o The corresponding label is applied to the outside of the box.
  • Palletizing o Pallets are removed from a stack approximately 4 feet high. Pallets weigh 25lbs. o Once placed on the floor a corrugated pad is set in place on the top of the pallet before boxes are stacked. o Boxes are placed on the pallet in specific stacking configurations and must be followed. o Boxed roll products may weigh up to 50# per box and stacked up to 48" high.
  • Cargo's o Pallets are removed from a stack approximately 4 feet high.
o A cargo box is made up from two parts and placed on pallet squarely. o The finished roll does not get a cap; the bag is slid over the roll and then tucked in on the other end. o The corresponding label is applied level and smooth 2" from the top for Dietzgen product and approximately 1/3rd to halfway down for Canon product. o The roll is then placed in a cargo box standing vertically. o When the box is full, all rolls are counted to verify that the quantity is correct. o The flaps are folded in and taped shut o The corresponding label is applied to opposite sides on the outside of the box.
  • Daily Cleaning o Conveyors o Table's o Floor Sweeping o Breakdown empty boxes and put them in recycle box. o Clear floor of finished product. o Put raw materials back in bin locations. o Keep work area neat and clean. o Empty trash cans and replace them with new trash bags. o Clean up after yourself in break room. (Spill's, tables, refrigerator, microwave, etc.)
  • Quality o Labeling must be correct format and matched to the product.
o Labels must be applied level, and in the proper location. o Rough handling of rolls will cause damage and is not acceptable. o Boxes must be kept clean and free of tears. o Gluing must be done correctly, or box will come open later. o Boxes must never have "trash" inside
Required Skills/Abilities:
Minimum 1-year, recent machine operation experience. Able to read, write, and speak English fluently Must be able to pass a basic math and measurements test Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, reach, and lift up to 50lbs Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled building which may be quite cold in the winter and close to 100 Neatness and organizational skills are required. Must be able to operate a manual pallet jack. degrees in the summer.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Must pass a background check.
