Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Join our dynamic team at John Ball Zoo Camp and inspire young explorers to connect with nature, delve into captivating animal habitats, and engage in hands-on activities that ignite curiosity and foster creativity. As a Camp Educator, you'll lead up to 16 campers per session, tailored to specific ages ranging from 3 to 15 years old. Your role involves delivering nature-based experiences featuring guided zoo tours, park exploration, and educational games. Dive into diverse environmental topics, including animal adaptations, classification, ecology, STEM, and zoo careers across themed sessions. Collaborate with a dedicated Camp Aide throughout the summer, forming a dynamic team committed to wildlife exploration and camper engagement.PAY RATE
: Starting at $14.00 / Hour Camp Educators typically work Monday-Thursday, 8:30AM-4:30PM Camp training week starts on June 8. Most educators will finish their camp season on August 6. You will have the option to work an extra week until August 13 for summer camp. There's also the option to teach at the Spring Break Camp in April.WHATS IN IT FOR YOU?

Incumbent will work in various environments both inside and outside and may occasionally be exposed to inclement weather, temperature and air quality variations. Must be able to work in relative proximity to exotic and domestic animals and tolerate exposure to animal dander, animal wastes and other zoonotic contaminants as well as dust, dirt, pollen and other airborne contaminants. While performing the essential functions of this position the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical hazards; noxious fumes; blood borne pathogens; cleaning compounds; solvents; detergents; noise; and other hazards.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to remain active for an entire shift, standing, sitting, walking, and climbing stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Experience working with children in a formal or informal educational setting. Bachelor's degree in education, zoology, biology or related field preferred. Valid teacher's certificate or previous camp experience preferred.WHAT WE REQUIRE
