The Water Management Manager will lead Encore's Water Management Department, providing strategic and operational oversight across all irrigation installation, maintenance, repair, and water management services in the Phoenix market. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Maintenance Operations and directly leads a team of Field Water Management Specialists/ Supervisors, each responsible for a defined geographic territory and crew portfolio. This is a department-building opportunity for an experienced irrigation management professional who is ready to step into full ownership: of a team, a P&L, and a growing service line. What You'll Do Department Leadership:
Lead, coach, and develop a team of Field Water Management Specialists/Supervisors. Set performance expectations, build accountability systems, and grow the team's capacity to deliver exceptional service across the portfolio.
Operational Oversight:
Establish and enforce company-wide water management standards. Conduct field audits, resolve escalated issues, and ensure every property meets Encore's quality benchmarks and local compliance requirements.
Financial Performance:
Own department profit and loss, including cost control, and revenue growth. Review and approve proposals, identify expansion opportunities, and analyze performance metrics to guide decisions.
Water Technology and Innovation:
Evaluate and lead the adoption of smart irrigation systems, ET-based controllers, and water conservation technologies. Keep Encore ahead of industry developments and local water authority requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with Client Success to support retention and address account-level concerns. Coordinate with Enhancement, Operations, and other service departments to ensure seamless, integrated service delivery. Who We're Looking For Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial irrigation or water management, including hands-on field operations and supervisory responsibility Demonstrated experience managing or leading a team, including performance management and professional development Strong working knowledge of irrigation system components, hydraulics, controller programming, and water management principles Proficiency with both manual and smart irrigation systems (e.g., Hunter, Rain Bird, Toro, Weathermatic) Ability to read and interpret irrigation plans, blueprints, and site maps Experience with budget development, financial analysis, and profit and loss management Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead teams and manage cross-functional relationships Valid state driver's license with clearance of five-year MVR record in accordance with Encore Landscape Management MVR standards and policies Preferred Qualifications Irrigation Association (IA) Certified Irrigation Contractor (CIC), Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA), Certified Irrigation Designer (CID), or equivalent certifications Experience with smart irrigation platforms and ET-based controller systems Knowledge of local water authority regulations, conservation requirements, and rebate programs Experience managing multi-location or multi-territory operations Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred Familiarity with job costing, work order management systems, and field reporting tools Physical Requirements This role includes regular field presence across multiple commercial properties. You must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including the extreme heat typical of Arizona summers, with exposure to dust, landscape materials, and irrigation environments. The position requires the ability to walk properties on uneven terrain, lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds, and maintain the visual acuity to assess system performance, inspect installations, and identify field issues. You must also be able to hear and communicate effectively in active outdoor environments.
