Position Summary:
The Irrigation Supervisor leads a 4-6 person crew and manages commercial irrigation operations across multiple properties. This working supervisor is responsible for scheduling, hands-on fieldwork, system diagnostics, and client communication. The role combines field leadership with administrative coordination to ensure water efficiency, service quality, and crew development. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The Supervisor must also be available to respond to after-hours or emergency irrigation issues as needed. Key Responsibilities:
Field Operations & Leadership Supervise and participate in daily irrigation tasks including inspections, repairs, and controller programming Perform hands-on work: sprinkler head, valve, dripline, and PVC repairs Create and assign work orders based on system inspections and property needs Adjust and maintain irrigation controllers for seasonal and water-saving goals Track and meet individual monthly billable hour and production targets Team Management & Safety Lead by example to maintain a safe, productive, and high-quality work environment Train and mentor irrigation technicians on troubleshooting, system efficiency, and safe practices Prepare daily crew schedules and participate in hiring, performance reviews, and coaching Conduct weekly safety meetings and enforce all company safety policies Client Communication & Sales Support Communicate with clients, property managers, and internal teams about system performance and repair needs Assist Area Managers with proposals, estimates, and client meetings Recommend system improvements and promote water-saving upgrades Administrative & Technical Oversight Record labor hours, materials, and job details using mobile apps or spreadsheets Prepare system maps showing valves, zones, mainlines, and points of connection Submit service reports, inspection findings, and proposals in a timely manner Ensure accurate completion of timesheets, service logs, and safety documentation
Qualifications:
3+ years of commercial irrigation experience; 1+ year in a lead or supervisory role Proficient in smart controller programming, troubleshooting, and hydraulic systems Familiar with interpreting irrigation plans, schematics, and as-builts Experience with recycled water systems preferred Comfortable using smartphones, email, and Excel for work order and crew management Valid driver's license with a clean record; must be insurable Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred Backflow certification strongly preferred Able to perform physical work outdoors in all weather
Compensation & Benefits:
