Job Description:
The Fine Gardening Assistant Manager supports the planning, scheduling, and execution of all crew activities, ensuring employees are results-oriented and operate as a cohesive team. This role assists in overseeing tools and equipment, including delivery, storage, operation, and maintenance. The Assistant Manager represents the company by interfacing with clients and helping maintain strong relationships.Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and organizing daily gardening tasks and crew schedules
- Supervise and support gardening staff in planting, pruning, weeding, fertilizing, and general garden maintenance
- Ensure proper care of plants, trees, and shrubs, including pest and disease management
- Train team members on gardening techniques, equipment use, and safety procedures
- Conduct site visits to monitor quality, progress, and client satisfaction
- Communicate with clients regarding services, updates, and special requests
- Assist with irrigation system checks and basic troubleshooting
- Manage tools, equipment, and materials to ensure proper use and availability
- Enforce company policies and safety regulations
- Help resolve on-site issues and improve workflow efficiency
- Plan and oversee landscaping and fine gardening tasks, including planting, transplanting, pruning, and nursery care
- Visit project sites to ensure quality standards and support client needs
- Interpret company policies and enforce safety procedures
- Recommend improvements to working conditions and equipment use to improve efficiency
- Analyze and resolve work issues or assist team members in problem-solving
- Maintain time, production, and job records
- Work alongside crew members as needed
- Assist with ordering materials and maintaining inventory levels
- Ensure required licenses and documentation are current
- Support staff management, including interviewing, training, scheduling, and conflict resolution
Job Qualifications:
- Experience in gardening, horticulture, or landscape maintenance
- Knowledge of plant care, irrigation systems, and seasonal maintenance practices
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess issues quickly and implement effective solutions
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift, carry, and move gardening materials and equipment
- Frequent bending, walking, standing, and manual labor
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to calculate basic measurements, areas, and volumes
- Basic computer skills, including spreadsheet use
- Valid driver's license with a clean DMV record
Pay:
